Who invited them?

Spam, Spim, and Splog have been showing up for dinner without invitation. They have been pushing Internet users over the edge of the table. To break it down for the not-so-learned Internet user, spam, is the proliferation of unsolicited email and spim is the unwanted instant messages. Splog is the new uninvited guest that links itself to a legitimate blog.

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are able to filter spams and help protect users from viruses. They also provide the capability to report spams. If you use this feature, be certain to add the email addresses of those you wish to receive email from to your address book. This will ensure that you receive these emails.

Spim and Splog are still fairly new, but there are already steps to take to avoid them.

Be careful opening all of those e-mails bringing holiday cheers and special deals.
