It is time to call your tax preparer or accountant and set an appointment. The longer you wait, the busier your tax professional becomes.
Before your appointment, make sure that all of your numbers substantiate your deductions and that your numbers are compiled in tax-related categories. Do not give your accountant a shoe box full of uncategorized receipts and canceled checks.
Expect a good accountant to ask many questions. Answer them correctly. Your accountant can help you better when the information you provide is accurate and adequate. The right information will also yield appropriate advice from your accountant.
Choosing a professional tax preparer makes good sense. Tax professionals keep abreast of the new rules that are sometimes hard to understand by non-tax professionals. They know what is allowed by the IRS and what is not.
Remember to start looking out for tax documents in your January mail. Call a professional tax preparer and start getting your documents ready.
“The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.”
